Session 1 July 5 - July 9, 2010 "Summer Theatre Arts Institute" Instructor: Martha Pfeiffer

  • Cost: $125.00 for morning session

Acting, Singing and Dancing for Musical Theatre

  • Group and solo performances
  • Ages 11 through 18
  • 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
  • There will be a Showcase on the last day of class.

About the instructor: Mrs. Pfeiffer is an innovative and popular 6th grade teacher at Mariner Middle School. She also teaches high school classes.


Session 2 July 5 - July 9,2010 "Summer Theatre Arts Institute" Instructor: Dr. Paul Pfeiffer

  • Cost: $125.00 for afternoon session

Study of Classical Theatre

  • Making Shakespeare come alive - study of Shakespeare's language, movement, and scenes
  • Ages 12 through 18
  • 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • There will be a Showcase on the last day of class.

About the instructor: Dr. Pfeiffer is a seasoned actor and university professor. He is chairman of the Drama Department at Salisbury University.


Session 3 July 12 - July 16, 2010 "Children's Musical Theatre Camp"
Instructors: Janet Layden and Cathy Layden-Jansen

  • Cost: $200.00 FULL DAY session

Theatre games, Improv, Acting, Singing, Scene Study, and Dancing for Musical Theatre

  • Group and solo performances
  • Ages 7 through 12
  • Supervised lunch hour
  • 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • There will be a Showcase on the last day of class.

About the instructors: Janet Layden with her assistant, Cathy Layden-Jansen, has over 25 years experience as owner and artistic director of a landmark school in Brooklyn, New York and a performing arts academy on the Jersey shore.


Session 4 July 26 - July 30, 2010 "Children's Musical Theatre Camp"
Instructors: Janet Layden and Cathy Layden-Jensen

  • Cost: $125.00 for morning session

Prince and Princess Dance and Drama Camp

  • Creative dance and acting. Material is age appropriate for both boys and girls
  • Creative arts and crafts projects to take home are included in the tuition
  • Students create their own "royal stories"
  • Ages 4 through 7
  • 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
  • "Crowning Ceremony" on the last day of class.

  • Cost: $125.00 for afternoon session

Study of Improvisation Games and Techniques

  • Theatre Games
  • The art of "Theatre Sports"
  • Acting in historical styles and movie styles
  • Study of memory and the art of spontaneous thinking techniques
  • Improv etiquette and 'inter-age' acting techniques
  • 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Ages 11 through 18 (material will be age appropriate)
  • There will be a Showcase on the last day of class.

About the instructor: David Warick is the founder and director of the popular improvisation troupe, Delaware Comedy Theatre. He also teaches drama and theatre arts at Southern Delaware School for the Arts.
